My name is Christopher Maxie, and I am proud to announce my Republican candidacy for Franklin County Sheriff.
Franklin County is home — not just to me, but to my entire family. I am the son of Gary and Bernice Maxie, and for the past 16 years, I’ve been married to my wife Amanda Maxie. Together, we are raising our three sons right here in the same community that raised us. Amanda has proudly served the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and has been the Jail Commander since 2023, a role she continues to hold today. Service isn’t just something we do — it’s who we are as a family.
Before entering law enforcement, I spent 13 years as a union Ironworker, learning the value of hard work, discipline, and accountability. But I felt a calling to serve Franklin County in a deeper way. In 2020, I joined the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department as a Jail Officer, was promoted to Jail Corporal, and in April 2021, earned the rank of Merit Deputy. I then attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Class 224, graduating in September 2021.
Since then, I have continued to pursue training and education to better protect and serve our community.
I have received certification through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as a Primary Instructor. I completed the Active Shooter Threat Instructor Training Program accredited by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Board with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. I have also completed; Mental Health First Aid, advanced roadside interviews, Verbal Cues Vs. Body Language training course, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, Writing Narcotic Search Warrants and Completed Training with the Indiana Drug Enforcement Association.
I currently serve as the Primary Firearms Instructor for the Sheriff’s Department, and I have completed the Instructor Development AR15 /M16 Comprehensive Armorer Course and the Glock Armorer’s Course. I was honored to be named OPO Officer of the Year for 2023. I have received a letter of commendation from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department for persistence, discretion, and professional initiative that led to one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in recent Franklin County history. I have also received a letter of commendation from the Prosecutor’s Office, as well as a lifesaving medal and the Medal of Valor, for lifesaving aid provided to a defendant, assisting fellow deputies, and showing compassion and diligence toward a 23-month-old frostbitten child.

As a 30-year resident of Franklin County, I understand that effective law enforcement starts with trust, transparency, and strong community relationships. Our Sheriff’s Department must not only enforce the law — it must reflect the values of the people it serves.
I’m running for Sheriff because I believe in:
A Safer Community
Prioritizing crime prevention, drug enforcement, and youth outreach — while also reducing repeat offenses through meaningful programs inside our jail facility.
Accountable Leadership
Clear standards for transparency, body camera policies, and professional training to ensure fairness and public trust.
Community Engagement
Law enforcement works best when it works with the community. I will expand opportunities for public input, dialogue, and safety forums.
This campaign isn’t about one person — it’s about all of us. I have seized over 200 grams of methamphetamine, along with numerous other illegal drugs that threaten our families and neighborhoods. My family and I are actively involved in our school corporation and community, and that commitment will never change.
Franklin County is where we live, where we raise our children, and where we look out for one another. I’m asking for your support, your voice, and when the time comes, your vote — not just for me, but for the future of our community as a whole.
Together, we can continue building a safer, stronger, and more united Franklin County — for our families, and for generations to come.
Respectfully,
Christopher Maxie
